Accelerator
About
This program supports efforts that accelerate the pace of conservation across the U.S. Southeast with a special focus on the section of the Southern Appalachian Mountains that stretches from Southwest Virginia to Northeast Alabama.
The mountains, valleys and rivers of the Southern Appalachians are a biodiversity hotspot of global significance. The importance of these unique ecosystems is only expected to grow as species seek refuge from rising temperatures. Our goal is to protect these natural resources for future generations.
This is a new program for the foundation and we are interested in learning about different strategies. These can include the work of land trusts, advocacy organizations, leadership development programs, technical assistance programs, infrastructure for the field, as well as research and education projects.

While our geographic focus is on the Appalachians, we will make exceptions for projects in other areas of our 6-state region* that have the potential to propel the conservation field forward.
